I have recently taken the leap of faith and joined the masses of workers who are leaving full time employment, and setting up on their own. This is especially true of staff who have been made redundant and are using it as a method to get back into the workplace. For me my reasons are slightly different, and have not taken the decision lightly, but my heart is telling me it is the right thing to do
I’ve been one of the lucky few who have started self employment with a client base established from my own previous employer, which is a great weight of the mind, and means there is lessor a financial worry, but enough still to keep the level of eagerness at a high level, and a desire to succeed even stronger.
There are still offices out there that look like this, the only difference being is add a spaghetti loop of cables and wires for the modern day computer systems.
This picture makes me smile. It reminds me that the world of workplaces has really evolved since this gentleman’s day. You can sense the whole living office of the late sixties from this one picture, to the cheap perfume worn by the secretaries, and to the cigarette smoke and rattle of typewriters, with the tea trolley brought around. No break out areas here!
I intend to start blogging about office furniture design, workplace strategy, FM related activities, however still a bit daunted as to where to start. So I thought I’d start simple with some adverts I found in some design magazines that I inherited.
